This past October was the First Annual NorLand Sock Drive in partnership with Living The Dream Team. We raised $2,930.00 of our $3,000.00 goal and donated 1320 pairs of socks and 750 granola bars! We also received donations of over 200 socks from Tentree, 120 granola bars from Mills Office Productivity, and 300 tubes of toothpaste and dental hygeine kits from Alpha Dental Group in Brentwood Mall. NorLanders graciously filled the donation boxes around the offices and assisted in handing the socks out on a very rainy day.
Last week, NorLand appeared in Business in Vancouver's list as one of the 'Top 100 Global / National Companies Operating in B.C.' The criteria was based on employment numbers, with NorLand listed as the 66th biggest company in 2018.

The hard work done by the BEL-FRPD Gateway JV was recognized on Tuesday evening at the Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) 2018 Awards of Excellence. Fraser River Pile & Dredge Inc. and BEL Contracting, won silver in the over $50 million category of the VRCA awards for their performance on the Fairview Container Terminal Phase 2 North Expansion. The scope of work for BEL Contracting involved blasting rock from the mountain behind the terminal and using this crushed rock to fill in a portion of the shore, in order to expand the facility.
Christina joined NorLand in 2017 as Manager of Business Systems Integration and brings a perspective gained through a long career in Information Systems. Christina holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Project Management Professional designation and is experienced in Enterprise Architecture and Strategic Planning, Project and Portfolio Management, Business Process and Data Engineering, as well as Systems Development. For the past 20 years, Christina has focused heavily on ERP and related systems.
We are proud to announce that on September 19-21, NorLand attended the annual Recycling Council of Alberta (RCA) Conference: Rolling out the Recycling Red Carpet. This conference discussed the recycling situation in Alberta related to China's regulations, extended producer responsibility and circular economy. The Vancouver Zero Waste 2040 Plan was also used as an example of where Alberta can be heading in the future.
Our very own, fully restored 1957 Willys Pickup truck took home first place in the 'Best Stock Truck' category at the Downtown Coquitlam car show! Shane Peachman, a retired NorLand Limited employee for the shoring division, was the pilot for the event. The company truck was restored for the 50th anniversary of Pacific Blasting back in 2008. The '57 Willys has won some smaller categories at this event in the past; however, this is the best finish at the event that showcases over 250 cars and trucks every year.
We are pleased to announce that on August 10th, NorLand acquired the Quebec-based drilling supply company ML Air Inc. Founded in 1966, ML Air is a third-generation Leclaire family enterprise that distributes drilling and blasting tools.
'Recently, On-Site Magazine published its annual report of 'Canada's Top 40 Contractors' and Business in Vancouver (a weekly business news journal) published its list of 'Biggest construction companies in B.C. for 2018.' NorLand appears on On-Site's list at #23 with $192,000,000 in revenues for 2017 (last year NorLand ranked #26), and on BIV's list at #7 biggest construction company in B.C.
On Friday July 13th, a dozen members of NorLand Limited joined together to participate in a garbage and recycling cleanup of NorLand Avenue. The cleanup crew covered ground between the NorLand head office and Burnaby 8 rinks collecting 7 bags of recycling and trash. The bags were separated into mixed containers, soft plastics, paper and garbage then recycled accordingly. The effort was part of the NorLand 'Growing Green' initiative in which NorLand aims to be a leader in the green community!
