Bowen Road Rehabilitation

This project included water distribution mains and services, storm sewer mains, catch basins, concrete curb, gutter, sidewalk, traffic islands, road works and paving. This project was located on a very busy arterial road within the City of Nanaimo. All works were completed on night shift to minimize impact to the surrounding area. Traffic management was a significant challenge for this project but was overcome through detailed traffic management plans, thorough schedule planning and cooperation with the surrounding businesses and homeowners.

This was a challenging project to supervise and manage due to the large volume of traffic in the area, the very dense ground conditions, the abundance of existing utilities in the ground that had to be worked around and the fact that the whole project was completed on night shift. Copcan crews worked tirelessly throughout the summer to ensure the project was completed on time before weather turned for the worse in the winter months.
