LNS Services is an industrial construction and maintenance contractor that delivers value-added engineering, project management, and construction services to materials-handling, manufacturing, forestry, and many other industrial and commercial sectors. We primarily install and maintain machinery and related structural steel work for container ports, bulk material terminals and heavy industrial manufacturing plants – primarily within the Vancouver Lower Mainland area.

We are in search of a Project Estimator to join the LNS team.  In this position, you will be responsible for completing full cycle bidding for projects, with support from our Design & Estimating Manager and our experienced site Superintendents, Engineers and Project Managers.   You will evaluate requests for proposals, produce detailed cost estimates and written proposals with schedules for a wide range of complex heavy industrial installation and maintenance projects ranging in value between $50K and $ 10MM – most often for bulk materials handling equipment and associated structures.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILIITES:

  • Provide excellent customer service by putting the customer first, communicating effectively and making LNS Services a pleasure to work with.
  • Promote the LNS brand and develop relationships with clients and other contractors to develop future project opportunities. Always demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, skill and motivation.
  • Meet with our clients and their engineers to fully understand the objective of each project and which project goals matter most.
  • Develop high level work plans with the support of our experienced team to meet or exceed the clients’s schedule, cost and quality goals, while maintaining our competitive advantage to win bids.
  • Possess the technical knowledge and experience to develop excellent ‘win solutions’ for the installation, modification and maintenance of heavy industrial machinery and related structural steel work.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review bid documents, engineered design packages, specifications and associated terms and conditions to fully understand the specified scope of work, evaluate project risks and determine if LNS is the right fit for the project.
  • Attend on-site meetings to review site conditions and understand the scope of work, quality, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Develop innovative project ‘win solutions’ and evaluate internal and external resource and material requirements to complete the work competitively.
  • Identify, tender, and evaluate outside services and material packages as required to obtain technical input and costing from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Use our estimating spreadsheets to develop a complete work breakdown structure and produce a detailed estimate of all labour hours, outside services, materials and equipment costs.
  • Prepare written proposals to document the project’s scope of work, bidding assumptions and commercial aspects – to allow our project managers to manage risk and scope creep after the project is awarded.
  • Lead a bid review with internal stakeholders prior to submitting your proposals to the client.
  • Work directly with the client and their Engineers as required to support of the proposal up to award of contract.
  • Lead a kick off meeting for our engineers and project managers after award of contract to walk them through the scope of work, proposal and associated cost estimates.
  • Evaluate completed project costs to obtain feedback on your estimates, to refine future bids and identify opportunities for improvement.

QULAIFICATIONS:

  • Mechanical or Structural Engineering diploma or degree, or Red Seal Millwright combined with extensive progressive experience in a similar role
  • 5+ years’ minimum experience with industrial project estimating and contract negotiations for small to large industrial installation projects
  • 3+ years’ minimum experience managing most aspects of industrial installation and maintenance projects
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, combined with outstanding time management, analytical, prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel, Work, MS project and AutoCad is required.

 

The typical starting salary for this position is $100,000. The exact compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, internal equity, and other criterion.

We are looking for a Field Millwright for Industrial Construction & Maintenance.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
  • Construct foundations for machinery or direct other workers to construct foundations
  • Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment
  • Repair, maintain, build and/or dismantle industrial equipment and machinery servicing bulk material terminals, container ports, waste-to-energy facilities, cement mills, and aggregate operations.
  • Help promote a work environment where the safety and health of all employees, subcontractors, and individuals on Norland sites is paramount

Qualifications:

  •  Minimum of 3 years experience in Industrial construction and maintenance
  • Red Seal certification (or equivalent International Trade Qualification)
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Chargehand/Forman Experience – Ability to lead, guide and oversee work scopes and field crews.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated, driven and work-focused with an emphasis on safe working procedures.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, multitasking and the extent of skills and competencies required to achieve the goals of the position.
  • Ability to weld on a variety of applications.
  • Ability to work in an intrinsically safe working environment.
  • Experience in Mechanical Automation is considered an asset.
  • Experience with and understanding of port container cranes is considered an asset.

 

Expected Wage: Wage starting at $50.62 per hour as per the 2021-2024-LNS-Services-USW-1-1937 Collective Agreement

LNS Services, part of NorLand Limited, is a Mechanical Construction/Engineering firm. We are looking for a CWB Certified Field Welder for Industrial Construction.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret welding procedure specifications from blueprints
  • Operate Manual/semi auto and full auto welding equipment
  • Weld structural steel and be able to follow NDT requirements
  • Heavy equipment repairs on large excavators, dozers, and loader buckets
  • Ability to work overtime when required
  • Ability to adhere to quality control systems

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Industrial construction and/or a recognized equivalent International Trade Qualification combined with education, designations, and Red Seal certification is required
  • Must have valid CWB-SMAW
  • Class 5 License is not required, but considered an asset

BEL Contracting has excelled in civil contracting across Western Canada, focusing on underground utility and road construction. Our expertise spans transportation and infrastructure projects for provincial, municipal, and private clients, ensuring quality through safety, efficiency, and budget adherence. We offer tailored construction solutions, including planning, design services, grading, excavating, culvert and utility installations.

 

We are currently looking for Civil Gradeperson to join our team for exciting Infrastructure projects in and around the Lower Mainland (Vancouver Area) of BC. There is no camp work/live out (LOA) available at this time.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reading drawings and preparing notes to lay various municipal pipe types and systems
  • Understanding offset layout and cut sheets provided by subcontracted survey companies
  • Maintaining, checking, and transporting survey instruments
  • Communicating effectively with pipe crew to set pipe or elements correctly
  • Keeping notes to record installation details and accurately transposing all of those as built drawings (neatly)
  • Staying two steps ahead with preparation for the upcoming operation
  • Attending and being an active participant in all mandatory safety meetings
  • Following instructions and operating as a productive member of a high functioning team
  • Working independently, as well as part of a team
  • Being punctual and having excellent attendance

 

Qualifications:

  • Can switch to bulk earthworks and road building when required
  • Experience with GPS systems is an asset
  • Safety knowledge and experience in the construction industry
  • Valid drivers license required, and your own transportation
  • Certifications an asset: First Aid, Confined Space, Utility Locating, Rigging, etc.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of team; Good work ethic and a willingness to learn
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs periodically throughout a full work shift
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing

 

This is a Unionized position with LiUNA! Local 1611 Construction & Specialized Workers’ Union. This position will earn Union wages and will have access to extended Union healthcare and benefits, a Union-sponsored pension plan, and additional training through the Training Plan.

 

Expected hourly rate: Unionized wage range for this position is $37.98 – $48.64 per hour (wage subject to negotiation based on candidate’s experience), plus 12% vacation/statutory holiday pay

CDI (Construction Drilling Inc.), a division of NorLand Limited, is a drilling contractor and drill equipment rental company based in Duncan, BC. CDI is looking for a team member to fill the position of Estimator reporting to the Pre-Construction Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to learn and work on a wide range of complex and unique heavy civil infrastructure competitive tenders.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work with the estimating team to access, assess, estimate and submit complete proposals for drilling and foundation scopes
  • Access client documents, download to proper locations and keep in organized fashion
  • Maintain an accurate compilation of RFP addendums
  • Review plans & specifications to determine scope of work and to define project requirements
  • Complete quantity takeoffs
  • Work with estimating team to establish a plan for developing the estimate
  • Secure subcontract and material tenders for inclusion in the estimate
  • Identify possible project risks
  • Work in collaboration with partners on joint venture major project pursuits (request for qualifications and request for proposals)

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in engineering or engineering technology (civil or geotechnical), or construction management with 3+ years of experience
  • Confident communicator
  • Proficient with MS Office Software, with advanced skills in Excel
  • AutoCAD skills preferred
  • Good work ethic and a willingness to learn

 

Expected salary range: $70K – $80K (dependent on internal parity and candidate’s skill, qualification, and experience relevant to the role)
