Our Facilities

Our location offers both outdoor and heated indoor storage spaces for your small or large-scale equipment and materials. We have a 52,500 square foot indoor storage facility, as well as over five acres of secure outdoor storage in BC. Our entire indoor and outdoor storage space is monitored by industry-leading security systems, including camera monitoring. We offer short-term and long-term storage rates that vary based on your specific needs.

Transportation

We are a full-service team, which means we’re available to transport your items to and from our storage location. We’ll coordinate the move with your team and ensure your items get from your site to storage safely. After you’ve completed your work on our site, or your project is ready to continue off-site, we can help with loading, transporting, and unloading your equipment.

Rigging

Moving your items into our storage space can be facilitated by our professional industrial movers. We have specialized knowledge and equipment to handle your items with the utmost care as we make them easily accessible for you.

Our transport and rigging crews are available to assist you at any time with offloading your items for storage. We’re able to move just about any item in our yard with our jack and slide systems and two 80,000 lb forklifts.

Personnel & Equipment Support

When you need somewhere to work, we have everything you need on site at our yard and warehouse and ready to mobilize. For every need, there’s a solution in-house. Pro-Tech Industrial Movers has access to a full range of tools, equipment, and personnel available at our BC location. Our parent company, Norland Industries, serves the industrial sector in a variety of capacities. When you use our storage facilities, you get the full benefit of comprehensive support for construction, repairs, or upgrades. Many of our clients choose our location as an off-site work site so they can get ahead of their project timelines. As an added benefit, there’s no need to mobilize a crew to a remote or distant location. Instead, you can bring your team to our location or use our in-house industry experts (including on-site mechanics, welders, and millwrights).

Short- and Long-Term Storage

We offer short- and long-term storage solutions for industrial projects. Store your equipment or materials in our warehouse or yard until they’re needed. Or, use our storage facilities for short-term storage during project delays or off-site work. When you’re ready to put them into place, contact us for specialized transport and rigging services.

Pre-Designed Rigging Plans

Our specialized rigging solutions are customized to your needs. This means every project starts with a custom rigging evaluation and plan that outlines the tools, equipment, engineering, personnel, and timing for the project, as well as safety considerations. Although we have enough experience that most specialty rigging jobs are not particularly challenging, we always spend the time on a full rigging plan to guarantee safety, quality, and reliability. We understand that as a moving part of your project, you depend on our success to keep the momentum going and complete your work efficiently and at a higher quality standard. We’ll work with you on-site and off-site to develop an innovative rigging plan and coordinate with other teams.

The Rigging Process

Once the plan is developed and approved, we’ll mobilize our specialized team and equipment within the mutually agreed upon timeframe. Our goal is twofold: to safely and successfully complete the move from start to finish, while helping you maintain other operations or construction nearby with minimal interruption.

Our Experience: Retrofits & New Builds

Apex Specialized Rigging & Moving has been helping commercial and industrial clients with their specialized rigging needs in BC for over 50 years. Our experience includes both new builds and retrofits. We’ve provided successful industrial rigging solutions for hundreds of clients in a variety of sectors, including infrastructure projects, indoor retrofits, and marine moving. After each successful project, we take our gained experience back to the boardroom and add it to our toolkit for future projects. If you need quality engineers and rigging teams, we’re your first call in Western Canada.

Reverse Flood Drilling

Reverse Flood Drilling

Compressed air is injected into the drill pipe below water level into an air chamber at the cutter head. As the air rises and expands within the drill pipe, the density in the internal liquid column is reduced.

The higher density of the water column outside the drill pipe causes the overburden and drill tailings to pass from the shaft, through the cutter head and rise up through the drill pipe. The tailings are lifted to the surface with the help of the rising air.

Construction Drilling utilizes a Wirth PBA 612 pile top drill rig when reverse flood drilling. We have been successful installing shafts from 50” to 78” in diameter, up to 300’ deep.

For large-diameter deep drilled shafts, we primarily use rotary bits as we find the rotary method to be the most stable, non-aggressive way to install drilled shafts. With the rotary head reverse flood method, no air is introduced to the rock formation.

Under-Reamer

They are all similar in that they use a steel ring welded on to the bottom of the casing. The down hole hammer and steel ring are locked together, and the hammer drives on the steel ring. Together, they drill a hole large enough to allow the casing to be pulled into the drilled hole. A rock socket can be drilled below an under-reamed pile. We have experience with every type, and choose them based on overburden type, rock type and cost.

Under-reamers are particularly useful in offshore applications. We have many hanging lead drill systems that can utilize various under reaming systems from 12” to 36”.

A compressor supplies air which travels through the drill pipe to the down hole hammer, where it drives the piston as it strikes the bit directly. This provides a very efficient transmission of impact energy through the bit into the rock, breaking the rock and drilling the hole.

Our drill bits are available in different sizes allowing us to drill a wide range of hole sizes from 6” to 50”. For holes larger than 50” we recommend using a cluster drill or rotary head.

Reverse Circulation Drilling

Reverse Circulation Drilling

Reverse Circulation, or RC Drilling, is a clean and environmentally friendly method of deep foundation installation. It employs dual-wall drill rods, comprised of an outer drill rod with an inner tube (Figure 1). As the sections of drill rod are screwed together, the inner tubes overlap and seal with O rings. This provides a continuous path for the drill tailings to be transported from the bit face to the surface.

Dual Rotary Drill Systems

Dual Rotary Drill Systems

Our dual rotary drill rigs are used when casing has to be socketed into hard bedrock. They can also be used when sand, gravel, cobbles and large boulders make it challenging to drill a cased hole. The versatility of dual rotary drilling makes it one of the most efficient, low-risk and cost-effective methods for drilling in difficult formations.

Construction Drilling has dual rotary drill systems that can handle holes from 6” to 10’ (3.05m) in diameter.

Pile Driving

Pile Driving

CDI’s pile driving services form the backbone of many construction projects, providing strong and reliable foundations for buildings, bridges, marine structures, and industrial facilities. Our team is equipped to handle diverse pile types, including steel H piles, steel pipe piles, concrete piles, and timber piles, using a variety of equipment such as hydraulic hammers and vibratory drivers. These methods enable us to adapt to different site conditions and soil types, ensuring stability and safety for long-term structural integrity.

Pile driving is used to support deep foundations, particularly in areas with challenging soil conditions or where high load-bearing capacity is required. This service is essential for the construction of heavy infrastructure projects, such as bridges and high-rise buildings, as well as for stabilizing slopes and supporting temporary structures. CDI’s expertise in pile driving ensures that each project is executed with precision and efficiency, contributing to the overall success and durability of the structures we help build.
