IT User Support Technician

We are looking for a new team member to fill the position of IT User Support Technician at the Burnaby office, reporting to the Manager, IT Infrastructure. In this position you will be expected to work closely with the Information Technology team to provide first line support to Users of information systems and technology in our various NorLand Limited divisions.


  • Tracking and following up on requests from users of NorLand information systems and technology
  • Providing timely first line assistance to users of NorLand information systems and technology
  • Escalating requests to appropriate second line support
  • Assisting with the coordination and scheduling of system outages and updates
  • Assisting in the development of end user training materials and user guides
  • Assisting with the training of end users in the use of information systems and technology
  • Setting up and managing user accounts and permissions on the network • Troubleshooting basic network problems.
  • Coordinating with vendors to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software
  • Resolving hardware and network connectivity issues • Deploying end-user computer equipment (Reinstall OS, and deploy user profiles)
  • Assisting with technical upgrades and maintenance of end-user computing equipment and its software
  • Supporting testing and deployment of new applications and systems
  • Monitoring day to day computer performance
  • Updating and maintaining computer equipment inventory • Keeping IT documentation up to date

  • At least one industry recognized certification related to computer hardware, software, networking, and/or information security (Fundamentals+, A+, Network+, CCNA, SSCP, Security+, Microsoft certified desktop support technician, Microsoft Certified Professional)
  • 1-2 years of experience providing computer user support
  • Customer service orientation with a positive and professional attitude
  • Attention to detail and organized approach to work
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • General understanding of functionality of ERP and other business systems
  • General knowledge of end user computer equipment and peripherals
  • Working knowledge of MS Office tools, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Willingness to grow and learn
