Join us as a Civil Superintendent!

Copcan Civil, part of NorLand Limited, is searching a Civil Superintendent in Okanagan region with extensive knowledge and experience in city, urban pipe laying and road building to join their team. As a Copcan Superintendent, you will be the leader in providing direction to the trades and construction staff in the field, while coordinating their responsibilities and activities on multiple sites.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop safety plans specific to projects and ensure the project team works those plans
  • Leads, schedules, and directs trades, subcontractors and other construction staff
  • Mentor foremen and work closely with junior field engineers on site
  • Team with project manager to ensure seamless project delivery to the client and identify critical aspects of execution
  • Problem solve and propose creative project solutions on site in a fast-paced environment under the constraint of tight construction schedules
  • Participate in estimates of execution hours, equipment & other resources required for construction projects
  • Meet with new and existing clients to develop project opportunities through relationships
  • Participate in pre-tender site and scope evaluations with the estimators

What we are looking for:

  • 6+ years of leadership experience in the construction sector managing sites and projects similar to the jobs in our project portfolio
  • Background of successfully completing complex underground civil utilities (potable water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, district heating), earthworks, road building and other infrastructure projects
  • Experience working with relevant soil conditions in all applications (peat, running sand, glacial till, etc.)
  • Technical diploma or bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field of study is an asset
  • Proven track record of managing a diverse and challenging portfolio of construction projects
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office software

Compensation

The role is a permanent, full-time position with a typical salary range of $110,000-of $135,000 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, and experience. Join us as a Hydraulic Superintendent!

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hydraulic Superintendent to oversee and manage hydraulic operations for various foundation and geotechnical projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in operating advanced hydraulic equipment, managing a range of piling and drilling systems, and performing technical troubleshooting. This role requires proficiency in bidding, project management, and providing tooling support, along with hands-on experience in micropiles, case anchors, strand anchors, and pipe piles.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage hydraulic operations for piling and drilling projects, ensuring efficient execution of work while meeting safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Operate and maintain hydraulic equipment such as Klemm 807, Camachio MC 22 with Handler, MC 4, MPDs, TEI, Ranger, DTH hammers, and other specialized machinery
  • Perform a variety of foundation work including micropiles, case anchors, strand anchors, and pipe piles, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget
  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support on job sites, ensuring safe and effective equipment operation and performance
  • Oversee the selection and management of casing sizes and drill systems to meet project requirements
  • Lead the bidding process for projects, ensuring accurate estimates, timelines, and resource allocation
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including scheduling, staffing, and coordinating resources for optimal performance
  • Provide tooling support and ensure that all required tools and equipment are available and in optimal condition
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to address job-specific challenges and ensure smooth project execution
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic issues on site and coordinate repairs or adjustments as needed
  • Train and mentor team members, ensuring high levels of competency and adherence to operational procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment performance, maintenance, and job progress

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience as a Hydraulic Superintendent or similar role in the geotechnical, construction, or foundation industry
  • Strong operational knowledge and hands-on experience with Klemm 807, Camachio MC 22 Handler, MC 4, MPDs, TEI, Ranger, DTH hammers, and other hydraulic drilling and piling systems
  • In-depth experience in micropiles, case anchors, strand anchors, and pipe piles installation
  • Expertise in managing and troubleshooting hydraulic machinery and associated equipment
  • Experience in the bidding process, including cost estimation, project scope, and resource planning
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams, resources, and project schedules
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations, equipment maintenance, and quality control
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing project requirements
  • Certification in hydraulic operations or related field
  • Experience with advanced project management software or tools
  • Knowledge of industry trends and best practices for hydraulic equipment and foundation techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites
