BC Transportation Contractor of the Year

We at NorLand Limited are so proud of our team for winning two awards and one nomination for BC Transportation Contractor of the Year Awards of Excellence. One of NorLand's values is "Effort Gets Recognized", and so we want to make sure that no one out there misses out on these important awards highlighting achievements within the NorLand family. These awards recognize the contractors behind some of BC's most important projects. As there was no award for 2020 due to the COVID -19 pandemic, this year celebrated both 2020 and 2021.

Copcan Civil won the 2020 Contractor of the Year Award for Grading.

This was awarded for their work on the Highway 93/95 Radium Intersection Improvements. They coordinated the relocation of several underground and overhead utilities at a very busy intersection and still completed the project ahead of schedule. With this intersection being an important part of the route through the Rockies, having an intersection that keeps traffic flowing is vital for the area (and for the Hot Springs itself). As someone who has personally driven through the old intersection a number of times, and has now driven through the improved version, I can say this is a much needed change for the people of Radium Hot Springs. Thank you Copcan, for all the hard work and dedication that went into completing this project.

NorLand Limited won the 2021 award for Workplace Health and Safety for development of our online training portal that helped significantly reduce workplace injuries.

The training portal exposes employees to small modules to encourage greater comprehension and provide a competency grade during progress. Since the programs inception in 2018, there has been a 23.9% increase in WorkSafe BC rating. To date, nearly 6,000 courses have been completed (the article from BC has 3,000 listed, but that is a mistake). This attention to health and safety stems from NorLand's first and most important goal, "Everyone Goes Home Safe". We put safety first. There are no compromises. No task is worth a person’s health.

In addition to winning an award this year, Norland Limited was also nominated for our commitment to Community Service for 2020. Although we didn't win the award this time around (huge congratulations to Yellowhead Road & Bridge!), we still want to recognize the effort involved in the initiatives. NorLand supported students through scholarships, co-op and employment opportunties, supported the CKNW Kids' Fund, as well as the CCW and a number of other community-focused programs. All this to help drive Our Shared Purpose: Helping Build Enduring Communities, Together.
