BelPacific Wins VRCA Excellence Award for 1515 Alberni Project

September 23, 2025

We are proud to share that our 1515 Alberni project, led by BelPacific, a Norland Company, has been honored with Gold at the Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) Excellence Awards. This award recognizes the innovation, expertise, and commitment of our team in delivering a highly complex project.

BelPacific led one of Vancouver’s deepest excavations – 120 feet below grade – for the 42 story “Jenga Tower” at Alberni & Nicola. The project included demolition, ground anchor drilling, and shotcrete wall reinforcement, with custom equipment and real-time monitoring to ensure precision. Tie-back anchors and steel mesh shotcrete supported stability near adjacent structures during the top-down excavation. A custom-built telescoping stick excavator, the largest and deepest reaching of its kind in North America, made excavation safe and efficient, removing over 600,000 cubic yards of earth.

This complex, urban dig highlights BelPacific’s innovation, expertise, and commitment to safe, efficient delivery.

Chosen from 90 projects across BC, this award recognizes the innovation, expertise, and commitment of our team that made this complex project a success. This achievement reflects the dedication of our employees and our continued leadership in shaping B.C.’s built environment. Job well done!
