When did you start at NorLand and how did you get involved in the Construction Industry?

I started at NorLand in May 2022. After 17 years at a company in the marine industry, I sought a new challenge. My pursuit led me to explore other industries where I discovered that the skills and experiences I had acquired over the years were well-suited for this role. The transition proved to be a great fit for me.

This year’s IWD campaign theme is #EmbracyEquity. How do you think we can work towards equality in the construction industry?

It is important to strive for an environment that is free of any form of bias, stereotypes, or discrimination, and all individuals are treated as equals. To achieve equality in the construction industry, we can promote and highlight the presence of women in this field and advocate for change within the construction industry, such as advocating for policies that support diversity and equality and promoting diversity and inclusion at industry conferences and events.  We can also Establish mentorship programs to support young women in their pursuit of engagement, development, and success within the industry, and provide them with the support and guidance they need to succeed.

Based on your own experience, what advice would you give to other women who are considering pursuing a career in construction?

It is important to cultivate a curious mindset, to ask questions, and share your thoughts and ideas with confidence. Collaboration with colleagues and field workers is key. Building connections with other women in the construction industry and participating in industry events can help you gain a better understanding of the field and expand your professional network. Although a career in construction may present challenges in a male-dominated industry, it is essential to maintain self-confidence in your abilities and to persist in pursuing your goals. Keeping ahead of industry trends, cutting-edge practices, and latest advancements will help you continuously enhance your skills and knowledge.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

International Women’s Day is a day of recognition and celebration of women worldwide for their achievements and accomplishments, and to commit to continuing to work towards a more equal and just world for all women.

How have you liked working at NorLand so far?

NorLand has a richly diverse workplace, allowing for the inclusion of unique perspectives and ideas from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Working at NorLandNorland with such a diverse group of individuals is truly fulfilling. The new office enables smoother collaboration and communication among the different business units. NorLand feels like a second family to me, with various social events such as the summer BBQ, spectacular Christmas party, Halloween costume and World Cup gatherings.
