NTI Services Ltd. is an industrial construction and maintenance contractor that delivers value-added engineering, project management, and construction services to materials-handling, mining, and other industrial and commercial sectors. We primarily install and maintain machinery and related structural steel work for container ports, bulk material terminals, and heavy industrial manufacturing plants - mostly within the Vancouver Lower Mainland.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager at NTI Services Ltd. is responsible for all aspects of successful project execution, with support from our experienced site Superintendents, Forepeople, Engineers, and coordinators. You will provide leadership and control of the project, typically involving scope definition, execution planning, subcontractor management, reporting, scheduling, mobilization, engineering, design, procurement, subcontracts, construction, commissioning and closeout.

Accountabilities:

  • Promote a work environment where the safety and health of everyone involved is paramount
  • Proactively lead, coach and motivate project team members and be accountable for team performance and results
  • Provide discipline specific technical mentorship to the engineering and field teams
  • Review plans & specifications to determine scope of work and define project requirements
  • Ensure regular communication and proactive client relationship management
  • Effectively manage project scope by ensuring that any changes to scope are documented and approved using a change order process
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, skill and motivation, ensuring that each project has the resources to meet or exceed project goals

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop execution plans working with the field engineers, construction manager, and superintendents
  • Manage project budget and provide updates to the Senior Project Manager
  • Manage onsite subcontractors and challenge below par performance (contract, scope, schedule, quality)
  • Create and submit weekly and monthly reports to client / owner
  • Create, submit and track change orders and delay notices
  • Develop project specific plans (mob/demob, transportation, install methodology, commissioning etc.)

  • Chair / attend onsite coordination meetings
  • Assist the estimating manager in developing project estimates
  • Work with project stakeholders to develop proposals from project estimates (scope, schedule, cost, execution)
  • Ensure regular communication and proactive client relationship management
  • Working with the business development team to secure new work contracts for NTI
  • Supporting development and execution of the company strategy

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in engineering, construction or project management, or technical school diploma and extensive practical project management experience on applicable project work
  • 5+ years of work experience in engineering, construction or other related technical field with increasing levels of responsibility and development considered an advantage
  • 3+ years of experience as a Project Manager in the industrial construction sector, with structural mechanical bulk material handling experience considered an advantage
  • Significant experience mentoring, coaching and leading a team and the ability to hold members responsible for their performance
  • Experience managing multiple subcontractors of varying disciplines
  • Strong grasp of basic engineering principals particularly structural and mechanical
  • Some electrical and instrumentation experience considered an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills at all stakeholder levels – including suppliers and fabricators, onsite subcontractors, field and office staff, consultancies, and clients and owners
  • Estimating and business development experience is an asset
  • Attention to detail but ability to focus on the big picture
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done
  • Proficient in MS project, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Basic Navisworks and AutoCAD skills
  • Outstanding time management, prioritization, multitasking, and organizational skills
  • This position is based onsite at project location

The role is a permanent, full-time position with a typical salary starting from $120,000 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, experience, and internal pay structures. As a part of NorLand’s total compensation package, this position is eligible for other benefits subject to program eligibility.
