Oar Road Erosion Protection

General Description:

This project included the supply and placement of cobble fill, armour rock and filter rock on the beach in Nanoose to provide erosion protection and fill cover over the existing interceptor sewer running underneath the beach.

Key Challenges & How They Were Overcome:

Tides and soft working areas significantly impacted this project. Tide charts were monitored daily to determine optimum work times. Blast mats were placed on the beach in soft areas to prevent the excavator from sinking. Certain soft zones were avoided to minimize safety risk.
