NorLand Businesses Adopt a Family (Or Five!)

This year, multiple NorLand businesses decided to give back to the community and embrace the season of giving by Adopting a Family.

Apex and Pro-Tech had the opportunity to Adopt a Family from the Surrey Christmas Bureau.  They sponsored a single mother on long term disability who lives in low-income housing with her two beautiful girls aged seven and four.  Apex and Pro-Tech were able to raise $600 and had many gifts donated by their employees. These small events brought them closer as a team, and they look forward to continuing their community efforts going into 2020. Apex and Pro-Tech believe that together we can ALL make a difference.

LNS services also decided to spread the holiday spirit by sponsoring a family. LNS sponsored a family of five; a Mom, a Dad, a seven-year-old boy, a two-and-a-half-year-old boy, and an 11-month-old girl.

LNS employees collected $1,390 (including a $500 corporate donation from LNS), 25lbs of dry food, and several good condition articles of clothing for the children. LNS exceeded their goal of $500 to support the family, so they requested additional sponsors and were lucky enough to be matched with two single seniors.

The sponsored family received several gifts and clothing items for each child, as well as a gift card for each parent, and a $300 grocery gift card. The elderly woman received a few comfort items and a $150 grocery card. Lastly – but certainly not least, the elderly gentlemen received a new mattress, quad-cane, and some comfort items.

Jaimie McCorkindale and Destiny Ryan delivered the sponsors’ gifts on December 18th and were met with much joy and appreciation from each person; the elderly man even gave them a painting as a gift in return. LNS is excited to do even more next year!

BelPacific, BEL Contracting, and Pacific Ground Engineering also decided to bless a family. Together, the three businesses adopted a family of six; a Mom, Dad, and four children ages 8, 4, 3 & 2 (3 girls and 1 boy) who live in Burnaby. The Christmas Bureau asks for a goal of $700 and sent over the children’s wish list which consisted of Paw Patrol toys, books, and slime.

The employees far exceeded these expectations; each child will receive their own huge bag of presents with all the items on their wish list and more (Santa made a pit stop and was very generous). The parents have a gift bag full of goodies as well as receiving grocery gift cards valued at $1,295.

The Bel Group would like to especially thank their GM’s Ermanno Rambelli, James Emslie, Mike Bitter for supporting the cause as they all believe in giving back to the community, together.

The NorLand business who took part in the Adopt a Family Initiative this year hope this is the beginning of more great events where they can impact the community moving forward. Thank you to everyone for contributing!
