Junior Project Coordinator (Co-op/Summer Student) - Copcan Civil

Copcan Civil provides project management, construction management, and skilled labour for installation and maintenance of specialized mechanical equipment and associated structural steel. We utilize the diverse backgrounds of our highly skilled and carefully selected managers and technicians to rethink the possibilities when it comes to construction and installations.

 

We are in search of a Junior Project Coordinator (Co-op Student or Summer Student) to join the Copcan Civil team in our Kelowna and Nanaimo locations.  In this position, you will be responsible for coordinating projects and construction activities for a wide range of complex heavy industrial installation of bulk materials handling equipment and structures projects.   You will support of the project team and work very closely with the Project Manager and field superintendents to effectively coordinate project trades, subcontractors, and the owner’s personnel for all project activities.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Promoting a work environment where the safety and health of all employees, subcontractors, and individuals is paramount
  • Collaborating and assisting Estimators with estimating, including maintaining accurate bid lists, participation in the estimate review and bid wrap up process
  • Working with senior staff to develop, assess and improve project management and operations systems.
  • Coordinating, tracking, and reporting on various project functions including health & safety, environment, quality, subcontractor progress, and scheduling
  • Helping with quantity take-offs, quote solicitation, comparative table analysis, WBS development, and estimate entry NorLand’s bid software
  • Taking project progress photos, quantity measurements, managing hydrostatic and pneumatic utility testing, and coordinating sample taking and lab testing
  • Working with foremen and superintendents to ensure accurate completion of daily crew reports for payroll and equipment time processing
  • Analyzing job costing and helping to produce accurate budget forecasting
  • Working with the procurement team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials and services

 

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Civil engineering technologist / civil engineering student
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Outstanding attention to detail, prioritization, and organization skills
  • Familiar with construction survey equipment and methods
  • Proficient knowledge with MS Office applications
  • AutoCAD / Civil 3D experience
  • Strong work ethic - ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • A Valid BC Driver’s License, with a vehicle is required

 

Expected wage range: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour (dependent on skillset and experience)
