Business Development Analyst

We are looking for a new team member to fill the position of Business Development Analyst reporting to the General Manager, Major Projects. In this position you will play a key role in tracking and analyzing project opportunities across multiple businesses and industry sectors.  This position is ideal for a new or recent graduate with strong analytical skills to join a dynamic team that has opportunities for growth.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess opportunities in various NorLand market sectors by identifying clients and understanding their requirements. Identify competitors and their market share/advantages/weaknesses.
  • Establish marketing plans by developing strategies, objectives, action plans, schedules, and assignments. Forecast projected business/opportunities by identifying, researching, and tracking key projects or market sectors and applying probabilities of success.
  • Monitor multiple tender platforms and government tender websites to identify opportunities related to civil infrastructure and specialty construction projects.
  • Categorize, track and report on relevant pursuit opportunities, bid/no bid decisions, and win ratios.
  • Jointly manage a customer relationship management (CRM) system to track and report on opportunities.
  • Act as a power user for the company’s CRM system and work to streamline and automate tracking processes.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify potential risks and opportunities associated with market and specific bid opportunities.
  • Accountable for consistency and quality of data capture to enable a smooth stage gate process.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide data insights and recommendations to inform internal business planning and strategies.
  • Maintain a centralized repository of bid-related information, including templates, past proposals, pricing data, and competitor analysis, for future reference and continuous improvement.
  • From time to time, support proposal teams with bid-related documentation, including executive summaries, bid outlines, project plans, and other supporting materials as it relates to market analysis and business development.
  • Conduct semi-formal update meetings for leadership to share market insights and opportunities and marketing strategies. Collaborate with team to identify value added solutions to increase market share growth or new market opportunities in key regions.
  • Promote all NorLand service offerings to clients as may be required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience) with 0-3 years of work experience,
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, combined with a strong interest and aptitude for data management and analysis.
  • Experience with CRM software or prior exposure to construction or public and private infrastructure tendering processes is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize, multitask, and work independently.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

The typical salary range for this position is $57,000 to $65,000 annually. The exact compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, internal equity, and other criterion.
