NorLand Joins Industry Partners to Donate $20,000 to Surrey Hospitals Foundation

In January 2022, Brad Tangjerd (Business Development Manager, NorLand) presented a $5,000 cheque to the Surrey Hospitals Foundation. After partnering on several construction projects in Surrey and the broader Fraser Health District, McElhanney’s Paul Deol, who volunteers on the Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation Board, thought that it was time for NorLand Limited, McElhanney, Eurovia BC, and Ledcor Group to partner again. This time, we wanted to team up to show our support for Surrey, a community that has allowed us to work, learn, and build so many cool things together. Our cumulative donation of $20,000 was matched by Jim Pattison, making the final donation a grand total of $40,000. These funds will go towards the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre, a 188,000 ft2, LEED Gold certified health care facility in Surrey.

In keeping with NorLand’s shared purpose of Building Enduring Communities, Together, NorLand Limited constantly seeks out ways to give back to the communities we work in. Whenever we can, we love to get involved in projects that will help communities to grow stronger from within, and help members of the community to feel safe, stay healthy, find prosperity, and build lasting relationships with other community members. Norland has been involved with several community initiatives in the past. For example, in 2020, NorLand also partnered with McElhanney to help build the Surrey Children’s Hospital Playground.

When the facility was first built in 2011, the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre was home to about 100 clinicians and 50 clinics, alongside a scheduled surgery and diagnostic centre. Since then, it has found incredible success, expanding to over 500 physicians operating in 56 clinics. This includes a cardiac care clinic, a renowned breast health clinic, and one of the three Post-COVID-19 clinics in the province. The institution serves roughly 1 in 20 Canadians, and patients will come from all across BC to use its unique clinics and care facilities. Proceeds from NorLand and our partner’s donations will help fund the much needed equipment and supplies that will keep this incredible facility in operation. We are proud to have been a part of this wonderful initiative, and hope to continue being a part of projects like this in the future!
