Copcan Civil, part of NorLand Limited, is an award-winning civil construction company, operating from offices in Nanaimo, Victoria, Kelowna, and Rossland. The company has been in business since 1970 and has successfully completed projects throughout Vancouver Island and the BC Interior, including highways, bridge construction, underground utilities, demolitions, marine infrastructure projects, private development, and various municipal works.

 

We are in search of Surveyors in the Okanagan region, with extensive knowledge and experience in city, urban pipe laying, and road building.

 

You will be accountable for:

  • Surveying civil infrastructure projects including roads, retaining walls, utility piping, and bridges
  • Being proficient with Civil 3D or Trimble Business Center, prepare survey layout files from IFC drawings and supplied CAD
  • Providing survey layout as instructed by the site supervisor
  • Reporting month end quantities for projects including earthwork volumes and utility pipe records
  • Maintaining competent care of company supplied survey gear and instruments
  • Preparing as-built drawings, both redline and digitally
  • Following instructions and operating as a productive member of a high functioning team
  • Working independently, as well as part of a team
  • Being punctual and having excellent attendance

 

Candidate Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of survey experience in civil infrastructure projects
  • Experience with GPS and total station
  • Safety knowledge and experience in construction industry
  • Nice to have a valid BC driver’s license, but not a requirement
  • First aid is considered an asset
  • Fit to work – ability to see, hear, walk, stand, and lift up to 50lbs
  • Have a positive attitude and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Willing to travel across the Okanagan for different projects in varied weather conditions

 

Expected Wage Range: $32.00 to $40.00 (dependent on candidate’s skillset and experience)
