BEL Contracting and Pro-Tech Industrial Movers helped raise a Reconciliation Pole at the University of British Columbia (UBC) as part of a traditional Haida ceremony held on Saturday, April 1, 2017.  The totem pole, carved from an 800 year old red cedar from Haida Gwaii, was commissioned by the Audain Foundation and UBC to represent the legacy of residential schools and the reconciliation of indigenous and non-indigenous people across Canada.  Haida artist James

Pacific Blasting & Demolition Ltd. Signs Emergency Contract to Remove 20 Million-Pound Rock Slab

Pacific Blasting & Demolition Ltd. has signed an emergency contract to remove a 20 million-pound rock slab that came loose from a hillside above Washington State's busy State Route 503, approximately 21 miles east of Woodland, in Cowlitz County.  The resulting debris slide has closed the highway since March 13, 2017.  Washington State's Department of Transportation (WSDOT) chose Pacific Blasting & Demolition Ltd. to complete this time sensitive work due to the company's experience with precision rock removal and slope stabilization projects.

NorLand Limited Donates $20,000 to CKNW Orphans' Fund

NorLand Limited is proud to announce that is has donated $20,000 to the CKNW Orphans' Fund.  This donation was made in support of BC kids living with special needs at the CKNW Orphans' Fund's 39th Annual Pledge Day, held on November 30th at the Terminal City Club.  NorLand Limited has donated over $215,000 and countless volunteer hours to the CKNW Orphans' Fund over the last 20 years.

President of NorLand Limited Announces Retirement

After 45 years of dedicated service to NorLand Limited, including 28 years as President, Dale Bekar is setting his sights on a well-deserved retirement and spending more time with his family.
 
Dale began his journey with NorLand Limited in 1971 when he and his two brothers purchased Pacific Blasting Co. Ltd.  During the next 45 years Dale's leadership helped NorLand Limited grow to become one of the top 10 revenue generating construction companies in British Columbia.  Dale will continue to help guide NorLand Limited as Vice Chair of its Advisory Board.
 

Apex Specialized Rigging & Moving Lifts and Moves 290 Ton Bridge

Apex Specialized Rigging & Moving recently lifted and moved a 290 ton bridge in North Vancouver, BC.

The project involved lifting the decommissioned bridge structure approximately 12' from its foundations and installing beams underneath.  The beams were then used to slide the bridge to a location where dollies were waiting to move it to a laydown area located 300 meters away.  The bridge was moved during a weekend road shutdown, and was completed as scheduled with minimal impact to local traffic.

NorLand Limited Donates Travel Trailer to Fort McMurray Family

On May 3, 2016 a massive wildfire swept through the community of Fort McMurray, Alberta, destroying more than 2,400 homes and buildings and forcing the largest wildfire evacuation in Alberta's history.

With families in need of shelter, the NorLand Limited family sprung into action.  A travel trailer packed with supplies was delivered from Vancouver to Edmonton where it was donated to a young family who had lost their townhouse in the wildfire.

NorLand Limited would like to congratulate the 33 employees (and their families!) who participated in the 2016 Vancouver Sun Run.  This was NorLand Limited's first year entering as a corporate participant, and our team finished 21st out of 57 teams in the Real Estate / Development / Construction Category.  Congratulations to all that participated!
