NorLand Limited Celebrates NAOSH Week with Evacuation Drill & Annual Barbeque

NorLand Limited celebrated North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week by conducting an evacuation drill and holding its annual NAOSH Week barbeque lunch for employees.   A long blast of an air horn signalled the evacuation of NorLand's offices.  Employees made their way to designated muster areas, signed-in and waited to be dismissed.  At the conclusion of the evacuation drill, a barbeque lunch was served outside the heavy equipment shop.  In addition to a delicious meal, NorLand employees received safety oriented giveaways and answered safety related questions to win prizes

NorLand Limited Participates in Vancouver Sun Run

NorLand Limited congratulates its team of 35 employees and their families who ran or walked in the 33rd annual Vancouver Sun Run on Sunday, April 23, 2017.  In only its second year entering a corporate team, NorLand finished a very respectable 14th out of 62 teams in the Real Estate / Development / Construction category.  After the race, our team came together to celebrate the finish line, share their run stories and enjoy a delicious meal.

Congratulations to all participants.  Training for the 2018 Vancouver Sun Run starts now!

NorLand Limited participated in a ceremony held at Vancouver's Hastings Park Centre Grounds today, the National Day of Mourning, to honour lives lost or injured at the workplace.  Every year on April 28th, workers, families, employers, and communities across Canada come together at ceremonies held around each province to remember those who have lost their lives to work-related incidents or occupational disease, and to renew their commitment to creating healthy and safe workplaces. 

Elwin Danyluk Retires from Pacific Blasting & Demolition Ltd. After 18 Years of Service

Pacific Blasting & Demolition Ltd. thanks Elwin Danyluk for his 18 years of service and wishes him a long and happy retirement.  Elwin first joined Pacific in 1999 to help take down the #1 Steam Plant in Powell River.  He then moved to Vancouver to become a regular employee and worked on countless projects.  When Pacific decided to find a full time employee dedicated to keeping its tools clean and ready for service, Elwin was the perfect choice.   His sharp sense of humour along with his dedication to his job and co-workers will be missed.

Pacific Blasting & Demolition Ltd. Completes First Blast for Emergency Removal of 20 Million Pound Rock Slab Above Washington State Route 503

Pacific Blasting & Demolition Ltd. has completed the first blast associated with the emergency removal of a 20 million pound rock slab in Washington State.  The rock slab came loose from the hillside above State Route 503, approximately 21 miles east of Woodland, causing the highway to be closed since March 13, 2017.  This first blast was designed to produce finely fragmented rock and move it off the slope, to eliminate the need for scalers to complete this work manually.  The video below provides a unique view of the blast!

 

NorLand Limited Kicks-Off NAOSH Week with Children's Colouring Contest

NorLand is kicking-off its annual North American Occupational Safety & Health (NAOSH) Week celebrations by inviting the children of its employees to participate in a colouring contest.  Contestants will cut and paste safety equipment onto the outline of a person while learning about the importance of each piece of equipment.  Submissions are due before May 7, 2017 and winners from each NorLand business will be drawn during NAOSH week, running from May 7-13, 2017.
